Under general supervision, the Advanced Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive care to patients with complex Advanced Gastroenterology (GI) and Advanced Endoscopy conditions within a fast-paced ambulatory specialty practice. The NP provides independent clinical assessment and management of new and established patients, including patients seen through the Expedited Consultative Clinic (ECC), formal Advanced GI consultations, urgent visits, and post-procedure follow-up. The NP performs comprehensive histories and physical examinations; orders, reviews, and interprets diagnostic testing; develops and implements individualized plans of care; provides patient education and counseling; and coordinates diagnostic, procedural, and specialty follow-up. The NP works collaboratively with Advanced GI/Advanced Endoscopy physicians, APPs, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate timely evaluation and treatment of patients with complex gastrointestinal conditions. A primary responsibility of this position will be caring for Advanced GI patients, with an emphasis on new patient consultations generated from internal and external referral populations. This is an experienced APP role requiring a high degree of clinical autonomy, advanced clinical judgment, and the ability to independently manage medically complex patients across the continuum of hepatology care. The NP performs comprehensive histories and physical examinations; orders, reviews, and interprets diagnostic testing; develops and implements individualized treatment plans; prescribes and manages therapies; provides patient education and counseling; and coordinates diagnostic, procedural, specialty, and longitudinal follow-up.The NP will independently manage a patient panel in the ambulatory setting and collaborate closely with hepatologists, APPs, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, transplant teams, research teams, and other multidisciplinary providers to ensure timely, coordinated, and comprehensive care. High-Volume Ambulatory Practice and Patient Access The NP independently manages a high-volume ambulatory practice that includes new consultations, follow-up visits, urgent referrals, telehealth encounters, and ongoing disease management. The role supports division-wide patient access initiatives by helping maintain timely appointments, continuity of care, quality outcomes, documentation standards, and efficient clinic throughput.
