This is a hands-on total-care assignment , not a basic companionship position. We need someone who is confident providing personal care, understands the responsibilities involved in caring for a fully dependent client, has Hoyer lift experience , and takes reliability, professionalism, compassion, and client dignity seriously. CNA certification or a higher healthcare credential is a PLUS, but it is NOT required. Experienced caregivers without a CNA certification are encouraged to apply if they have strong, verifiable hands-on caregiving experience. We are looking for someone who wants to become a consistent and trusted member of the client's care team , not someone looking for occasional or inconsistent shifts. Depending on the assignment, responsibilities may include: Providing medication reminders Assisting with approved blood glucose monitoring Documenting readings when required Observing food and fluid intake Monitoring the client’s physical, emotional and behavioral condition Reporting pain, swelling, bruising, redness or skin concerns Reporting falls, injuries or changes in mobility Reporting confusion or unusual behavior Following established emergency procedures Contacting the Helping Hearts office immediately when concerns arise Completing accurate electronic documentation Caregivers must report concerns rather than independently diagnose or treat them. Caregivers must not assume that someone else has already reported a change in condition. Medication Reminders Medication support is limited to the responsibilities authorized in the client’s approved non-medical care plan. Caregivers may: Provide scheduled reminders. Assist with an approved prefilled medication planner. Place approved medications in a cup when directed. Remind the client to self-administer their medication. Document reminders and client responses. Report refusals, missed doses or other concerns. Caregivers must not independently administer medication, change medication instructions or provide medical advice outside their authorized scope. Transportation When required and authorized, caregivers may: Transport clients to appointments. Assist with approved errands. Transport clients to social activities. Notify the office if a client or family asks them to arrive late, leave early or change the scheduled hours. Complete all required documentation before the end of the shift. Failure to report for an accepted shift, leaving a client without authorization or failing to follow safety procedures may result in removal from the assignment or additional corrective action. The Vanderbilt Medical Center Staffing Collaborative supports nurse staffing needs as a system-wide resource. The Staffing Collaborative has created a new structure that allows alternative nursing employment at VUMC. Like a travel nurse, the Staffing Collaborative will allow Nursing staff to work 13-week assignments within a specific unit at VUMC. The Department of Nursing Strategic Programs and the Staffing Collaborative provide a new and exciting approach to nursing in a patient-focused, safe, and efficient manner. The assignment comes with premium pay and optional health benefits. The Staffing Collaborative's primary responsibility is to ensure coverage for the most significant scheduling needs across the organization. Assignments may necessitate working weekends and holidays. Minimum requirements will be consistent with the expectations for full-time staff within each specific unit. Assignment Duration : 13 weeks Locations Available : Belle Meade Ambulatory Surgery Center - Nashville, TN Unit Available : Holding Room/PACU Shifts : Day shift *shift times are variable depending on Holding or PACU shift* Qualifications : -Registered Nurse Required -Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program (or equivalent experience) -1 year of relevant RN experience, Preferred 2 or more years of recent Holding/PACU RN experience Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR): Registered Nurse BLS, ACLS, and PALS KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum. • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis. • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes. • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment. • The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned. Conducts primary care patient interviews and physical examinations. Demonstrates sufficient acumen to recognize problems, ask questions and to contact the patient's primary care provider and other members of the healthcare team. Has experience in gathering pertinent clinical data that aid in referral, treatment, or other primary care pathways. • Evidence-Based Practice (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully search for evidence to answer clinical questions.
