Experienced Caregiver Needed for Franklin-Area Client Location: Franklin, Tennessee Schedule: Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Hours: 12:00 PM–5:30 PM Weekly Hours: Approximately 16.5 hours Position Type: Consistent, part-time home-care assignment Helping Hearts is seeking a reliable, compassionate, experienced, and highly attentive caregiver to support a client in the Franklin area. This client requires full assistance with activities of daily living, including hands-on transfer assistance, and is considered a significant fall risk. We need a caregiver who understands that fall prevention requires constant awareness, close supervision, careful assistance, and proactive safety measures throughout the entire shift. The selected caregiver must be available to work all three scheduled days Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Consistent attendance is essential because the client depends on a stable routine and familiar caregivers. The client also has a small dog in the home. Applicants must be comfortable entering and working in a home with a small household pet. At Helping Hearts, caregiving is more than a job, it is a calling. We are looking for someone who will treat the client with dignity, patience, compassion, and respect while remaining actively engaged and focused on the client’s safety. Meal Preparation, Snacks, and Hydration Depending on the client’s care plan and preferences, responsibilities may include: Preparing simple meals and snacks Encouraging appropriate food and fluid intake Providing hydration reminders Assisting with meals when required Cleaning food-preparation areas after use Washing dishes and returning items to their proper locations Observing and reporting appetite changes, swallowing concerns, nausea, or refusal of food or fluids Following all dietary instructions listed in the client’s care plan Attention to cleanliness, nutrition, hydration, and the client’s comfort is essential. Light Housekeeping and Home Support The caregiver will help maintain a clean, organized, comfortable, and hazard-free living environment. Responsibilities may include: Tidying commonly used areas Washing and putting away dishes Completing light laundry Changing bed linens when needed Wiping down frequently used surfaces Keeping the bathroom and personal-care areas clean Removing trash Returning supplies and mobility equipment to their proper locations Keeping floors and walking paths free from fall hazards Reporting low supplies, maintenance concerns, or household safety hazards The client’s direct care, supervision, and safety must always remain the caregiver’s first priority. Observe, Document, and Report Changes The caregiver must closely observe the client’s overall condition and promptly report concerns to Helping Hearts. This includes changes involving: Mobility, balance, or transfer ability Physical strength or coordination Skin condition, bruising, redness, swelling, or pain Appetite or fluid intake Toileting patterns Mood, behavior, or cognition Alertness, confusion, agitation, or unusual behavior Breathing, comfort, or general condition The safety or cleanliness of the home Supplies that are low or unavailable Any fall, near fall, injury, or other incident Caregivers must complete accurate shift documentation, electronic visit verification, and required care notes through the company’s approved system. Concerns must be reported immediately. Caregivers must not wait until the end of the shift to report an urgent change, fall, near fall, injury, or safety concern. Small Dog in the Home The client has a small dog. Applicants must: Be comfortable entering and working in a home with a small dog Remain aware of the dog’s location when the client is walking or transferring Help prevent the dog, toys, food bowls, or leashes from becoming fall hazards Follow the client’s instructions regarding appropriate interaction with the dog Never allow the pet to interfere with the client’s care, supervision, or safety Routine pet care is not automatically part of the assignment unless it is specifically included in the client’s approved care plan. What We Are Looking For Exceptional Reliability and Continuity of Care This assignment requires a caregiver who can consistently work: Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Applicants should apply only if they can reliably commit to all three scheduled days. Regular attendance, punctuality, and dependable transportation are essential. Frequent call-offs, late arrivals, early departures, or ongoing schedule changes would disrupt the client’s care, safety, and established routine. The ideal applicant understands the importance of continuity of care and is committed to being present, prepared, and dependable for every scheduled shift. Relevant Caregiving Experience Previous hands-on caregiving experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience with: Full activities-of-daily-living support Personal care and toileting assistance High fall-risk clients Wheelchair-to-commode transfers Wheelchair-to-bed transfers Sit-to-stand and stand-to-sit transfers Mobility and transfer assistance Wheelchair support Repositioning One-on-one home care Companion care Safety monitoring Accurate care documentation Previous Hoyer lift, sit-to-stand lift, or mechanical-transfer-equipment experience is preferred but not required. Applicants must be willing to complete all required training and demonstrate safe transfer skills before independently using transfer equipment with the client.
