We are Hiring a Director of Nursing DON! Under the supervision of the Administrator, the Director of Nursing has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for the functions, activities, and training of the nursing services staff, in addition to the supervision of the Therapy Department and its’ functions within the facility. Ensures that these are understood and implemented by nursing personnel Supervises, evaluates, counsels, and disciplines inter-departmental personnel Assists in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection and termination of nursing personnel Ensures that a sufficient number of qualified supervisory and supportive nursing personnel are assigned for each unit/shift to meet the residents needs Participates in all screening processes prior to admission. Assesses items needed by the facility to meet resident needs Participates in coordination of resident services through departmental and appropriate staff committee meetings (i.e. Quarterly Quality Assurance and Assessment, Pharmacy Services, Therapy Services, Infection Control and Resident Care policy and procedure meeting) Plans staff development programs that will enhance staff knowledge of quality resident care Conducts periodic review to ensure all documentation is informative and descriptive of nursing care and of the resident’s response to that care Participates in planning and budgeting for nursing services Conducts periodic review to ensure that the nursing requirements of each resident admitted to the facility are reviewed and that the physician is consulted in planning resident care EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Maintains a current, valid Nursing License as a registered professional nurse, in good standing in the state the facility resides in. Possesses a minimum one (1) year of experience in nursing service administration. Additional education or experience in such areas as rehabilitative or geriatric nursing is preferred Possesses strong knowledge of state, federal and local regulations as they pertain to long term care

PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Works with the Facility Manager, facility staff and physician to coordinate the facility operations and patient procedures to ensure provision of quality patient care on a daily basis in accordance with organization policies, procedures and training. Provides nursing support to patients and staff. Assist with staffing, staff training, equipment, physician and patient relations, cost containment, supply management, medical records, patient billing, OSHA and all company, state and federal compliance. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for supporting and driving Organization quality standards through meeting regulatory requirements and the practice of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), including use of Organization CQI tools. Accountable for outstanding quality of patient care, as defined by the organization quality goals, by working with the Vice President of Quality and other organization management to ensure that organization/ASC policies and procedures are followed. Responsible for aggressively addressing and acting on adverse events and action thresholds. Complies with all data collections and auditing activities and maintains integrity of medical records and other organization administrative and operational records. Supervises and directs facility staff in providing safe and effective vascular access procedures to patients in compliance with standards outlined in the facility policy and procedures manuals, as well as regulations set forth by the company, federal and state agencies. Ensures all blood spills are immediately addressed according to the organization Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies. Participates in cost control initiatives. Responsible for efficient utilization of medication, laboratory, inventory, supplies and equipment to achieve supply cost goals following all guidelines established in the organization formularies. Assists in the development and revision of any applicable policies and procedures for the facility as directed to ensure continuous process improvement. Initiates, documents and completes ongoing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities including monthly reports and attend meetings as required. Manages medications, including ordering, receiving, and inventory control and checking for expired medications, including appropriate recording of controlled substances as required by law. Oversees maintenance of usage logs for all medications with appropriate documentation, as well as, records of drug disposal. Communicates with the pharmacist to assure medication accuracy, including appropriate recording of controlled substances as required by law. Ensures medical records are accurate, complete and in compliance with organization policies and procedures prior to discharge of the patient. Performs chart audits on a regular basis. Responsible for completion of admission, discharge, and transfer processes. Prepare and administer medications and treatments if appropriate as ordered by the physician. Review medication record for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician’s order, and adherence to stop order policies. Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, care of the dead/dying, etc., as required. Participate in the orientation of new customers/family members to the facility. Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the physician. Notify the customer’s attending physician and family when there is a change in the customer’s conditions. Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered. Take and record TPR’s, blood pressures, accuchecks, etc., as necessary. Contact the customer’s physician for: Nursing assessment of change of condition. Medication orders or charges. To inform of incidents. To report abnormal results of Lab and X-ray. Anything else pertinent to the customers’ care and well-being. Ensure the nurses’ notes and monthly summaries reflect the care plan and is being followed. Attend staff meetings, etc., as directed. Perform other related duties as assigned.
