DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: Springfield 2 serves a wide variety of patients aged 22 to 100 + with common diagnoses that may include: acute or chronic conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, infections processes, behavioral health, neurological & circulatory impairment, kidney disease, and diabetes. The unit has 32 beds, 16 semi-private rooms, and they have completed several nurse driven change projects including activity/mobility tool, acuity-based assignments, capacity management workflow, and foley utilization. The Manager is dedicated to professional growth and the nursing model of care, and the unit has a close partnership with Physician Medical Director. Together with the Nursing Director, the RN Registered Nurse Supervisor plans the operation of nursing services and the provision of emergency support requirements for tour of duty. Plans the coordination of nursing activities in line with medical needs, physician instructions and the general nursing care plan. Coordinates the activities of charge nurses to ensure proper care of residents. In conjunction with medical staff, adjusts the care plan to meet emergency medical needs. In the absence of superiors, the RN Registered Nurse Supervisor assumes total responsibility for operating decisions required by the circumstances of the moment. Takes responsibility for management of emergency situations as the need develops. Ensures presence of appropriate relief staff to assume responsibility prior to leaving the facility. Ensures notification of resident’s personal physician if there is a significant change in the condition of the resident or if the resident requires immediate medical care. Qualifications: The RN Registered Nurse Supervisor must hold a current state RN license and be a Registered Nurse in good standing. Must have previous experience in a supervisory capacity. Attention to detail, good follow through skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Orthopaedics- Registered Nurse-Ambulatory- 24hr

Provides general or specialized nursing care to patients in ambulatory setting or clinical practice. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the standards of practice of a professional nurse, Connecticut Children's policies and procedures and State and federal regulations. Reports to Nurse Manager. Prioritizes, plans, provides direct family-centered care to patients within area of service throughout the continuum of care utilizing time and resources effectively and efficiently. Facilitates the flow of patients within the clinical practice. Partners with child and family in evaluating outcomes. Monitors, trends and evaluates child/family responses to treatment throughout scope of service. Provides appropriate education to patient/family regarding all aspects of care, including telephone advice, based upon established protocols. Serves as advocate for parents and families. Clearly documents all pertinent aspects of care, including: a plan of care; a regular summary of patient status and family adjustment; unexpected events of changes in patient condition; medications; and monitoring of vital signs, etc. Complies with CCMC policies regarding appropriate documentation.
