Key Job Duties and Responsibilities Employee is required to direct, administer and record the care given to residents in this facility. The Charge Nurse reports to the Director of Nursing The following is a general list of key job duties and responsibilities in your position. The list is not to be considered inclusive and you will be required to perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned by an authorized supervisor. Duties and Responsibilities Communicate with family members regarding the progress of the resident. May be required to assist visiting physicians in rounds. May be required to draw blood and obtain fluids to submit for lab work. Record and monitor all progress of residents and communicate with physicians according to facility policies. May be required to assist in dining area and assist in feeding. Monitor work of other nursing staff in unit to insure thoroughness and assist with tasks as needed. Required to use telephones to communicate with physicians, arrange for transportation for doctor appointments, and contact families. Make rounds to insure cleanliness and proper care to residents. Coordinates care of residents in accordance with their care plans. Effectively manages all nursing staff assigned to unit. May be required to complete various reports as needed. Monitors personal and staff compliance to all State and federal requirements including blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, infection control, and fire safety. Monitors personal and staff compliance to resident’s rights. Assures that all medications and treatments are administered as ordered and in a timely fashion according to facility policies and schedules. Required to replace nursing staff that call in sick with additional staff. May be required to help provide nursing services when sufficient staff cannot be attained.
