PRN The Neurosurgical Advanced Practice Professional is a Physician-dependent practitioner responsible primarily for the medical and surgical management of patients admitted to the Neurosurgery Service under the supervision of the attending Neurosurgeon on emergency room call for the day. The APP performs his/her functions based on his/her personal experience and professional judgment and: (1) discussion with the physician; (2) knowledge of physician preference; (3) written protocols developed with the Neurosurgery Program and Munson Medical Center (MMC); (4) written policies of this institution. In addition, the APP will perform, under the supervision of a surgeon, advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tasks related to the neurosurgery patient from the Emergency room phase, in the OR as necessary and throughout the patient’s admission to MMC. At the direction of the surgeon, the APP will be responsible for the History and Physical examination, admission notes, daily progress notes, admit and routine orders, daily rounds, consultation notes, ED consult notes and attendance of at least 75% at the Trauma Performance Improvement and 75% of the Neurosurgical Section meetings.
