Job Responsibility Manages and leads team members, operations and patient care activities within a patient care unit during assigned shift. Collaborates with team members and nursing management in the development of methods, techniques and analytical approach to patient care. Creates a professional work environment that encourages team member respect, engagement, accountability and optimal patient outcomes. Educates team members in new and existing department procedures and systems (information systems, fiscal responsibility, etc.). Provides input on department budget allocations to nursing management. Ensures adherence to the established care delivery model, using knowledge of scope and standards of practice. Faciliates continual patient care unit compliance with the JC, CMS, New York State, DOH, Public Health Law, HIPPA regulations and System, hospital and department standards. Demonstrates core clinical competencies for patient population of oversight in order to supervise and provide direct patient care. Maintains current knowledge of scope and standards of practice, healthcare legislation, and population health. Interprets policies, procedures and technical methods for team members. Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations that improve patient care delivery and team effectiveness using evidence-based strategies and solutions. Performs related duties as required. Job Qualification Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State, required. As Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric, you will supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned nursing and direct care staff including: Directing and reviewing the work of nursing staff Preparing and monitoring staffing schedules Developing daily staffing plans for nursing care Ensuring compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric if they have: License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State, and 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders.
