Job Summary Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision, coordination, and assurance of comprehensive nursing care using nursing process and pertinent standards of care, the diagnosis of illness and physical conditions, and performance of therapeutic, corrective, and prescriptive measures of the designated inpatient or outpatient patient population within a collaborative practice agreement established with a specific physician on the staff of NYU Hospitals Center Job Responsibilities: Plans and organizes care to meet individual patient needs and to ensure appropriate clinical resource utilization per protocols, pathways, and other means. Monitors and trends the cost effectiveness of the position, particularly as it relates to the efficiency and performance indicators established for the service. Assists in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols when applicable. Formulates the plan of care, along with the attending physician, patient and family, based on expected goals of care and length of stay. Orders customary laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies per practice protocols, differentiates between normal/abnormal findings and follows protocols for abnormal findings, which may include referral to consulting physicians per customary pattern of the attending MD or with the collaborating physician. Performs complete health history, physical examination and psychosocial assessment of patients within the designated practice or clinical unit. Functions as a respectful member of the health care team. Participates in designated activities related to professional nursing standards and regulations of relevant outside agencies. Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of responsibilities. Facilitates the continuity of care across the continuum of services, e.g. home care, other facilities, appointments with MDs etc. Provides consultation about the therapeutic regimen to the nursing staff responsible for the patients care in the hospital setting. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have: Licensure: Current registration as Professional Nurse in New York and Registration as Nurse Practitioner in New York. Certification required (as soon as feasible following graduation from NP graduate program) by ANCC or Board Certification from other specialty organization that certifies Nurse Practitioners in a clinical area of practice. Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.. Description The Nursing Attendant is an individual who functions in a support role to the Registered Professional Nurse by providing direct patient care and related activities as assigned. Description As an integral part of the clinical care team, the Patient Care Associate is responsible for patient care and support activities promoting patient focused care within the Specialty Service. The Patient Care Associate supports the registered nurse in patient care activities, such as: assisting patient with activities of daily living, collecting specimens and performing procedures; maintaining a safe, clean environment; and other duties as needed. Overview Conducts and reviews UAS-NY comprehensive assessments of potential and existing members. Establishes an individual Plan Of Care based on members clinical, environmental, and social needs to support member safety in the community. Description The Medical Assistant II provides clinical office support to physicians and surgeons and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care. Mentors and assists less experienced staff members. Responsibilities Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: performing venipuncture and/or EKGs, checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring and dressing, as well as collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc. Assists physicians with various procedures, takes vital signs, relays instructions to patients and or families; answers calls and provides pertinent information. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending and receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Completing forms and requisitions as needed, managing charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately. These responsibilities may be carried out using the electronic medical record (EMR) system or manually as necessary. Enters orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepares prescription refill requests on behalf of the physician for the review and approval by the ordering physician. Inventories, orders or re-stocks medical supplies as applicable. Provides set-up of examination room and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by hospital and infection control policies. Maintains logging system as required for refrigeration of medications, point of care testing, sterilization process, crash cart or others as needed. Checks expiration dates on all medications and medical supplies disposing appropriately as per institution policy. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and in compliance with legal regulations. Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infections body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation and other hazardous substances. Assists in the maintenance of medical charts (filing, Op Reports, test results, home care forms). May schedule surgeries/procedures or work in conjunction with Surgical Coordinator verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admissions and consent forms as necessary. May be required to perform proficient phlebotomy duties. May perform appointment scheduling and registration for patients as well as updating patient demographic and insurance information. May maintain, adjust and confirm patient office schedule. May check and verify & update insurance information utilizing internal or web sources. May perform and verify pre-certification for procedures as necessary Provides training and mentoring to Level I MA staff. Directs and assigns MA schedules and work flow to meet the needs of the practice and applicable to patient volumes. Oversee the successful delivery of clinical office support to meet the needs of each physician. Performs other duties and tasks as required. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED with completion of Training Certificate from an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
