Checks expiration dates on all medications and medical supplies disposing appropriately as per institution policy. 7. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complies with legal regulations. 8. Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infections body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation and other hazardous substances. 9. Assists in the maintenance of medical charts. 10. May be required to perform proficient phlebotomy duties. 11. May perform appointment scheduling and registration for patients as well as updating patient demographic and insurance information. 12. Duties & Responsibilities Work in collaboration with physicians to provide patients with care, education, and support. Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management. Coordinating and assigning duties to other health care personnel, such as licensed practical nurses, nursing aides, and patient care associates.
