Comply with all state and federal regulations and guidelines related to CNA training and certification. Qualifications: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a CNA or in a related nursing role. Train the Trainer Course Completion Prior teaching or training experience is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage and motivate students. Proficiency in using technology and educational software for teaching purposes. Join the University of Chicago Medicine as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) on the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for the comprehensive management of critically ill adult patients in collaboration with attending physicians, fellows, residents, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary team members. The APP provides evidence-based critical care to patients with complex surgical, trauma, transplant, and emergency general surgery conditions. In this role, you will provide direct care to patients, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentials committee, to include identification, management, and/or referral of health problems. Conduct comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develop patient care plans within clinical practice and medical care protocols. Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the date in the patient's record; screen patients to determine the need for hospital admission, making referrals to other disciplines as indicated, write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients. Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. The Medical Assistant will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), or Physician, assisting with a range of clinical and administrative tasks such as administering vaccines, conducting EKGs, recording vital signs, maintaining accurate patient records, and collaborating with the healthcare team to enhance patient care. Perform any or all duties involving direct patient care as assigned by the registered nurse or physician and within the scope of the Nursing policies and procedures.
