Qualifications Current and active LPN license in good standing Minimum of 1 year of experience in detox, behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or a similar treatment environment Current CPR certification Experience administering medications orally, subcutaneously, and intramuscularly (IM) Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of withdrawal, medical instability, and psychiatric emergencies and respond appropriately Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergency situations Ability to physically respond quickly in emergency situations Familiarity with ASAM Criteria preferred Familiarity with Joint Commission (JCAHO) Standards of Care for Behavioral Health preferred Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems Essential Duties & Responsibilities The Detox Nurse is instrumental in guiding patients safely through the detoxification process under physician orders. This role includes educating patients regarding their treatment and condition while providing accurate clinical reporting to physicians, ARNPs, and the treatment team. You'll work to educate the patient about his/her condition and to assist the physician and ARNP by the accurate clinical reporting of patient conditions, status and proper clinical actions. The Nurse is involved in nursing assessments at intake and performs necessary discharge nursing actions as well as routine reports needed from clinical for insurance patients. This position is responsible for the proper administration, reconciliation, storage and security of all medications. Other specific tasks and responsibilities for this position include but aren't limited to: Administering prescribed medications, as prescribed by medical team Making independent decisions within the scope of their license involving patient care. Use sound judgment in the informing Leadership of all decisions made and when/how they should be communicated. Monitor and record through our Electronic Health System all aspects of the patients care Follow Universal Infections Control Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Reconcile medication at the end of each shift which includes the responsibility of accurately maintaining logs of distribution of controlled substances in accordance to regulation and State law.
