This position is currently approved for a temporary enhanced hourly rate due to critical staffing needs at designated facilities. The enhanced rate will remain in effect only while the facility is experiencing critical staffing shortages. LPNs provide evidence-based nursing care utilizing the nursing process, principles, practices and techniques of general nursing care as determined by Standards of Practice under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Screens for sick call, administers medications, and provides first aid and basic life support to patients and employees as needed. Maintains open lines of communication with security and treatment staff while providing input and feedback to assist the facility provider in organizing a treatment plan. Records all pertinent information into the medical record. Interacts with other departments as needed. Promotes continued competence through education/certification with a focus on correctional nursing. Nurses must have the ability to work hours, days and locations as assigned along with being capable and available to provide coverage as needed to meet institutional needs. Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department. This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits. Ensure all clinic logs are completed daily and only the current month log is available and store previous months in a binder for review as required . Ensure the emergency kit and oxygen are checked monthly and the red lock is replaced monthly or after each use. Ensure all surgical instruments are stored appropriately and packaging is intact. Ensure any regulatory issues identified are reported promptly to the Office Manager and tickets are submitted electronically as needed. Ensure all newly hired nursing personnel are oriented to the clinic and train newly hired employees in the clinic processes.
