Performs or assists residents in performing specific medical care activities in accordance with established policy and procedure to contribute to the patient's plan of care. This includes assisting residents in performing restorative exercises, collecting specimens as directed by nursing staff. Assessing and documenting completed cares. Provide feedback to nursing staff immediately on status or changes in patient conditions, pain management, and other important concerns. Assists with restocking supplies and maintaining appropriate work environment in unit including cleaning procedures. Participates in providing emotional and spiritual support for families. Complies with all aspects of resident rights including confidentiality and privacy. Report all allegations of resident abuse or misappropriation of resident property. Understanding and following established policy and procedures related to fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plan, universal precautions, infection control procedures, hazardous and chemical communication program. Maintains an environment that is clean and safe for all residents, families and staff. Prepares, administers and documents medication administration in accordance with established policy and procedure under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Medication Aide Certified MAC Shifts Available: 7A-7P Full Time Performs resident care activities and related non-professional nursing services under the direction of the Charge Nurse/Nurse Manager to ensure quality care of residents. Essential Duties • Provides individualized attention and nursing care in accordance with resident Care Plan, which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transferring, ambulation, range of motion, communicating, etc. • Responsible for observing and promptly reporting any changes in resident conditions to Charge Nurse/Nurse Manager (example: level of activity, eating habits, behaviors, and physical, mental and emotional status). • Performs tasks assigned by Charge Nurse/Nurse Manager, including vital signs, residents' weights, applying non-prescription creams/ointments, collecting specimens, etc. • Escorts residents to dining room, assists with feeding, and documents meal consumption. • Passes supplements, snacks, and fluids to residents per protocol and schedule and documents consumption. • Provides care that maintains each resident's skin integrity in order to reduce the risk of pressure ulcers, skin tears, and other damage by changing incontinent residents per protocol, turning and repositioning immobile residents per protocol, and applying moisturizers to fragile skin as needed. • Maintains clean, neat and organized work environment. • Protects the personal belongings of each resident, including eyeglasses, dentures, hearing aids, furnishings, jewelry, clothing and memorabilia. Promptly reports missing items to Charge Nurse/Nurse Manager per protocol. • Answers resident call lights promptly and courteously. • Assists with orienting residents and their families to the nursing home upon admission. • Escorts residents to appointments, including beauty shop, activities and church services and participates in activities and functions as directed. MAC Qualifications • Valid MAC certification in the state of Alabama. • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to manage residents based on maturity level and factuality.
