The fellowship includes clinical and didactic curricula designed to provide a solid foundation in the management of critically ill patients. Our rotations provide APP fellows with exposure to a wide variety of complex disease processes with rotations in the medical, surgical, trauma, and neurological critical care units. The curriculum includes protected academic time for didactics, simulation-based learning experiences, procedural training, and journal club. The PA or NP fellow practices under the general supervision of a physician. Their scope of practice includes: obtaining a complete medical history; performing a physical examination; ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and imaging studies; formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan; prescribing and/or dispensing medication; assisting in surgery or other invasive procedures; and counseling patients and families under supervision of a physician. In addition, the PA or NP fellow is required to participate in a program of instruction provided by the Fellowship Program and is expected to satisfy the academic requirement of this Program, as determined by the Program Director and the Medical Director. Major Responsibilities: ·Attend didactic and simulation sessions every other week ·Attend Journal Clubs and present patient case studies ·Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests ·Conduct in-depth health histories and physical examinations ·Analyses data collected to determine health status and identify differential diagnoses based on history, physical exam, and clinical findings. ·Develop and implement care plans with physicians and patients ·Manage therapeutic interventions and perform advanced procedures ·Reassess and modify plan treatment plans to achieve medical and health goals. ·Documents and communicate care outcomes and clinical findings to determine effectiveness of plan of care.
