A Fred Hutch Cancer Center ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management of multiple service lines of adult oncology patients at our community site at Northwest Hospital. They will actively coordinate the complex care of cancer patients undergoing both systemic anti-cancer therapy and radiation therapy. The incumbent will manage side-effects of these therapies, order appropriate laboratory and radiographic studies; prescribe medications and refer patient to other specialists as necessary. The incumbent may provide for post-treatment cancer patients follow-up visits for the medically indicated period after completion of treatment. The incumbent will also provide psychological support to patients by participating in patient and/or family teaching and refer patients to community agencies and other resources to promote optimal adjustment and functioning. This position requires the ability to lead other clinical staff, be accountable for the work required in this position, the ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment, and the relentless pursuit of excellent patient centered care. Type/Schedule: Part time, PRN, weekend, and holiday coverage Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, including initial history and physicals (H&Ps) within 24 hours of admission, follow-ups, and discharge planning. Patient population: Ages 6-65. Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and support staff to create integrated treatment plans addressing medical and mental health needs. Participate in treatment team meetings to ensure cohesive and comprehensive patient care. Co-manage patients with complex medical comorbidities alongside mental health providers. Educate patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle adjustments to enhance overall health. Provide medical consults and recommend diagnostic tests and treatments as needed. What We're Looking For: Licensure: Active Alaska NP/APRN license or the ability to obtain licensure. Education: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Certification: AANPCB Board Certification. Experience: Minimum 1 year of post-training experience in an inpatient or acute care setting preferred (behavioral health experience a plus). The ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management of multiple service lines of adult hematology oncology patients at Fred Hutch. They follow patients during their chemotherapy and provide medical supportive care, as well as surveillance after completion of treatment. The Float ARNP/PA-C may work on a variety of hematology oncology teams, at any of the Fred Hutch campuses, to assess and manage basic health needs of patients, address treatment toxicities, perform procedures, monitor for cancer progression or recurrence, and consult with professional peers as needed. They work collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate care of their patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician. Responsibilities Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s Evaluates and manages on-treatment and post-treatment side effects, as well as long-term surveillance and survivorship issues. Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of patient care. Participates in the conduct of cancer clinical research Provides patient, caregiver, and peer education Communicates effectively with inpatient and outpatient teams Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees Active member of the Rapid Response/Code Team Qualifications Required: Must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant training program or Nurse Practitioner program and be able to practice in the state of Washington (licensed). One year of ARNP or PA-C experience in Medical Oncology or Hematology required. Two years’ experience preferred. Strong collaborator and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program DEA licensure required upon credentialing ACLS certification within 3 months of hire Strong oral and written communication skills EMR experience The annual base salary range for this position is from $126,984.00 to $200,678.00, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
