Identifies and closes gaps in care. Meets the patient’s and family’s physical and psychosocial needs with support and input from the company’s inter-disciplinary team. Educates patients and families about medication usage, side effects, illness progression, diet and nutrition, medical adherence and crisis anticipation and prevention. Maintains contact with other clinical team members and other medical providers to coordinate optimal care and resources for the patient and his or her family in a timely basis and consistent with state regulations and company health standards and policy. Maintains patient medical records and medical documentation consistent with state regulations and company standards and policy. Participates in continuing education as required by state and certifying body. Prescribes medication as permitted by state prescribing authority. Minimum Requirements: Requires an MS in Nursing. Advanced Practice Provider - Neurosurgery - PRN

We are currently looking for a PRN Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to support our neurosurgical service alongside our world-renowned neurosurgeons, neurosurgical residents, and fellows . The schedule is flexible and on an as-needed basis. The APP will be assigned one primary neurosurgeon and will see patients primarily in the outpatient setting. There will be some minor inpatient coverage during normal business hours (primarily helping with discharge, seeing established patients who present to the ED, answering patients’ questions via MyChart and by telephone, and assisting with care coordination). The UTH Neuroscience group boasts 75 highly skilled Advanced Practice Providers within the neurology, neurosurgery, and neurocritical care department, which fosters opportunities for mentorship and growth. POSITION SUMMARY: Provides patient care assistance in a clinic or hospital setting in one or more specialized areas under the direction of a primary care physician. POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Conducts complex, standardized patient care procedures that require experience and specialized training that would otherwise be performed by a physician but which do not constitute the practice of medicine. 2. Coordinates, directs and implements patient's plan of care. 3. Orders, conducts and interprets pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures. 4. Performs physical examinations and provides episodic care or problem-oriented care under the supervision of a physician. 5. Orders appropriate laboratory tests and interprets the laboratory data such as blood and urine samples. 6. Monitors the treatment program of the patient to inform the attending physician of pertinent medical information. 7. Makes medical recommendations and/or referrals. 8.
