Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate) to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will: Provide expert clinical care to critically ill pediatric cardiac patients, including pre- and post-operative management, hemodynamic stabilization, and complex respiratory support. Perform advanced procedures, including but not limited to, arterial and central line placement, endotracheal intubation, and chest tube insertion. Collaborate closely with attending physicians, surgeons, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans. Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects. Educate patients, families, and other healthcare professionals on complex cardiac conditions and treatment strategies. Provide coverage for day, night, and weekend shifts, contributing to a 24/7, high-acuity environment. A service week model to mirror the Attending MD schedule is challenging, but enhances continuity of care for the patients and their families. A self-scheduling model provides customized time off to help with work life balance. Demonstrate exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. Required Qualifications: *Master's degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate program. * Current national certification as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) or Physician Assistant (PA-C). * Ideally 1-2 years of experience working in a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit or a comparable high-acuity setting. * Advanced knowledge of pediatric cardiology, critical care medicine, and hemodynamic monitoring. * Proficiency in performing advanced procedures. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. * Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development. * BLS and PALS certification required. Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary Don't miss this opportunity to join WashU's Nephrology Transplant team! Our team consists of 3 APPs in the outpatient setting and 1 APP in the inpatient setting. In outpatient, the APP sees their patients independently. For inpatient, the APP collaborates with Nephrology and Transplant Fellows. They will evaluate patients for kidney and pancreas transplant as well as manage immunosuppressant medication and post-transplant care. In our pediatric emergency department approximately 23,000 patients are seen annually accounting for 3,000 admissions. Our PAs and NPs serve as integral members of a multidisciplinary team providing excellence in emergency medical care. In addition, the PA/NP coordinates care with consultant services, recommends follow-up care, facilitates referral to various internal and external facilities and takes part in multidisciplinary continuous quality improvement. Our UMMC Adult Emergency Medicine provider group includes about 40 physicians and a growing number of PAs/NPs. Patients are seen in both the West and East Bank Emergency Departments, which house over 50 beds. Our Pediatric Emergency Medicine provider group is comprised of 17 physicians and sees patients in a 12 bed Masonic Pediatric Emergency Department. Our group is focused on providing high-quality patient care and expanding the academic focus of the University of Minnesota Medical Center. We work with several learners at various stages in their medical education. In this role, you will: Evaluate patients and perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations Compile patient medical data, including health history Order diagnostic tests, like imaging, electrocardiogram, laboratory tests, and interpret test results Perform therapeutic procedures, like suturing, splinting, wound care, nerve blocks and other procedures appropriate for an emergency department setting Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and help in provision of continuity of care Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, and medical devices Instruct and counsel patients on compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens Work with a fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (Epic) to create and maintain patient records Care for and communicate with patients, family members, co-workers, and other medical professionals Exhibit professionalism that is the expression of positive values and ideals as care is delivered and maintain commitment to ethical principles pertaining to provision or withholding of clinical care, confidentiality of patient information, informed consent, and business practices Schedule: 10-hour rotating shifts Openings: Casual FTE We’re looking for a PA or NP who is: A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate program or an accredited school of nursing and formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program. Holds current PA license through the MN Board of Medical Practice or current RN & NP license by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. Holds active DEA license Certified through the NCCPA or through ANCC/AANP or eligible for ANCC/AANP national exam and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges. Certified in BLS (required), ACLS (required), and preferably ATLS (although this is not a required certification for this casual position) Able to efficiently and effectively manage multiple clinical tasks Adept with interpersonal and communication skills that result in effective information exchange with patients, patients’ families, physicians, professional associates, and other individuals within the system Casual role requires ED experience with three or more years of work as a PA/NP in a tertiary, high-volume hospital emergency department in which you routinely performed typical emergency procedures. What we offer: C asual rate of pay is $85/hr. There is also additional compensation to be earned with shift differentials and incentive bonuses.
