Characteristic Duties And Responsibilities Assure clinical competency and expertise in areas of specialization. Function independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate health care for Infusion Suite and HCCC patients. Provide outpatient clinical care and same-day appointments as directed Assess and treat patients experiencing reactions to chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood products. Order medications, administer drugs, and treat patients during infusion services. Collaborate with nursing and clinical staff, along with administration to monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care. Determine clinical care requirements of care, with regard to patient condition and age, and follow universal precautions. Provide anticipatory guidance and counseling to patients/families. Document patient assessment and plan of care in the medical record and generate health reports for outgoing correspondence. Serve in a consultative resource capacity by providing expert knowledge and behavioral skills that impact clinical practice and patient outcomes. Act as a liaison between the Infusion Suite and other prescribers, while also working directly with patients. Support daily operations of the Infusion Suite and help develop processes to improve workflow and patient experiences. Create and oversee patient care plans in collaboration with the prescriber and the patient’s physician in order to provide the best treatment possible. Participate in the development, utilization, and evaluation of resources to meet patient/family educational needs. Provide education and serve as a resource for nursing staff in area of clinical expertise. Generate research questions regarding health care for particular patient populations. Participate in development and implementation of departmental quality assessment/improvement programs and processes Responsible for administrative activities and special projects as assigned.
