A second opinion referral will be generated if requested by the patient’s family, and deemed medically reasonable. A chronic problem list will be generated and maintained as current as possible. Items in the PAQ will be addressed on a regular basis. All medical providers are expected to promote a cohesive, cooperative working relationship with fellow providers which may include helping with excess patient loads and staying after the scheduled working hours. Daily responsibilities include: Conducting new patient consultations, reviewing medical histories, and performing physical assessments. Ordering, reviewing, and interpreting lab work and diagnostic tests to inform individualized treatment plans. Prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and related medications. Overseeing the administration of weight management treatments , including GLP-1 medications , and monitoring patient progress. Providing clinical oversight for nursing staff performing blood draws, IV therapy, and intramuscular/subcutaneous injections. Reviewing and signing off on patient charts, treatment documentation, and lab results in the EMR. Ensuring compliance with all state and federal medical regulations, safety standards, and internal protocols. Job Summary The Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC), a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center affiliated with UT Southwestern Medical Center, is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Simmons Acute Care (SAC) and Infusion team. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will function in Simmons Acute Care (SAC) clinic providing outpatient care for established SCCC oncology patients with acute medical issues requiring additional evaluation and management. The scope of SAC is to focus on acute medical problems related to cancer and/or cancer treatment. SAC provides healthcare services to patients who are receiving treatment for cancer or have completed treatment. This position will also collaborate with Dallas Infusion Center to manage infusion reactions, address lab abnormalities, provide anti-neoplastic patient education as well as transfer patients with acute issues to the acute care as needed. Scheduled Hours: 10-hour or 12-hour shifts Ideal candidates will have prior experience in oncology.
