The Clinical Nurse in the Acute Care Cancer Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license and at least one year of recent RN experience in an ER hospital setting. The ideal candidate must be available to work the mid-shift, 11am - 11pm, Monday - Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays required. The Acute Care Cancer Center is a place where patients choose to come when the severity of their disease requires emergency care. The ACCC partners and works closely with the multidisciplinary care centers in the evaluation and treatment of patients who entrust them with their care. This is an annual CBL that describes the difference in a swing bed patient versus an in-patient or observation patient. Virtual Registered Nurse (VRN) Role: The virtual registered nurse leverages technology to deliver patient care remotely, collaborating with bedside staff and the broader care team to ensure quality outcomes and timely discharge. Care of high acuity critically ill patients includes high complexity interventions serving patients of the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), Oncology, and Surgical services. The presence of a multitude of services provides broad experiences for the nurse. Care is coordinated by a multidisciplinary team including oncology nurses, attending physicians, fellows, advanced practice nurses, physician assistance, case managers, social workers, spiritual care, pharmacy and psycho-social support.
