LVN Supervisor - Berkeley Outpatient Multispecialty Center

Job Description Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Supervisor will oversee clinic operations and will have primary responsibility for the supervision of LVNs and medical assistants at UCSF’s Berkeley Outpatient Multispecialty Center (BOPC). They will also have shared, indirect oversight over other support staff such as practice coordinators in coordination with the Practice Supervisor/Administrative Director. The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Supervisor will have clinical and administrative responsibility for developing and maintaining a high standard of patient care. They are required to learn and be able to assist in all functions of the practices to include back and front office. These functions include, but are not limited to personnel, clinic staffing, materials resource management, maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff, and for daily clinical operations. In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, they will also oversee the training and performance of all LVNs and medical assistants and are responsible for composing and delivering their annual performance evaluations. Job Description Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Surgery & Department of Medicine and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and, Medical Staff Policies, and any unique to inpatient or ambulatory patient services (for those APPs providing services both in the inpatient and ambulatory environments) this Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is assigned to the Berkeley Cancer Outpatient Practice and Infusion Center. This APP position may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their “scope of practice”. In general, the “scope of practice” includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, specialty protocols (e.g. chemotherapy), routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures. This position will provide outpatient care in approved age groups at UCSF Health settings. The APP has responsibility for the quality of standards of care for a specified patient population and evidences self-direction and accountability in the development of this role within the all UCSF medical center locations. UCSF Health requires all Advanced Practice Providers (APP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Health sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 30-60 days and must be completed prior to the first working day. Job Summary JOB DESCRIPTION Under the supervision of the UCSF Primary Care Administrative Nurse Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, the Hospital Assistant assists in the delivery of care to patients at UCSF Primary Care. The Hospital Assistant will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment. This position floats between the front and the back office performing both clerical and clinical duties. Work includes a variety of personal care and nursing care procedures including assuring positive care outcomes. S/he will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of services provided to patients within the practices.
