The Iowa River Landing Med Allergy Clinic is seeking a 100% Medical Assistant II. Under direct supervision of a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse, performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting. Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment. Job Responsibilities Responsible for facilitating the smooth flow of patients through the clinic through interaction with patients, families and staff. Assists the Transplant Coordinator in referral, evaluation, listing, and post transplant activities. Completes patient rooming procedures to include vital signs, data collection and other identified components specific to the clinic setting and within outlined Scope of Responsibilities. Accurately administers and documents unit dose medications/ immunizations in accordance with clinic policy following successful training/competency. Performs EKG's and laboratory testing per CLIA license of the clinic following successful training/competency. Ensures documentation in the patient record is accurate, clear, concise within outlined Scope of Responsibilities. May function as provider scribe following successful training. Completes all assigned clerical activities and supply maintenance/ordering as directed. Assists with scheduling follow up care/appointments as ordered/directed. Distributes pre-printed/pre-approved patient education materials. Directs all patient questions to provider or RN. Functions within the documented Monument Health Scope of Responsibilities. All other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements Required : Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies; Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant University or accredited training facility Certification - Medical Assistant-Certified (MA) by one of the listed certifying bodies; Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Professional Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer. Any Medial Assistant hired between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2024 may be granted 6 months to obtain national certification. Gather all necessary and appropriate information from a caller and relay information to the appropriate provider for necessary follow-up. Inform reception desk of provider’s schedule status and assist in coordination of urgent and non-urgent provider schedule changes to ensure patient and provider needs are met. Perform patient correspondence when requested and assist patients in completing forms when appropriate. Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to procedure and OSHA standards. Complete scheduled cleaning requirements for designated work areas. Document completion of work to comply with infection control and OSHA standards Implement other infection control procedures as needed and adhere to protective clothing requirements. Ensure clinic supplies are adequately stocked and well organized. Process and deliver department inventory requests in a timely manner. Routinely check expiration dates and remove or replace outdated supplies. Maintain prescription sample supply cabinet as per clinic protocol Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and adequate records are kept. Ensure inventory of instruments and equipment is current. Ensure instruments and equipment are calibrated as needed and maintained in proper working order. The Medical Assistant, EMT and LPN position requires the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
