Job Summary Hilltop Family Practice is located at 85 Main Street, Somersworth, NH 03878. As a Family Medicine office, we provide outstanding primary care and preventative health care to patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support a busy family medicine practice. The schedule is Monday-Friday with staggered 8-hour shifts between 8:00am and 5:00pm. The MA will support 2–3 providers and an average of 35 patients per day, working collaboratively a nurse and 2 other MA's while also functioning independently within their scope. Responsibilities include typical MA duties like rooming patients, vitals, immunizations, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing but also some admin tasks including prescription refill requests, in-basket management and calling patients with results This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, build strong patient relationships, and continue developing clinical skills in a team-oriented primary care environment. Summary: The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care. Yes Essential Functions -Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training. -Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record. -Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education. -Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach. -Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated. -Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates. -Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider. -Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene. Summary: The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under direction of the Physician. Major Responsibilities  Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts.  Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.  Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.  Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed.  Cleans and sterilizes instruments.  Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.  Gives injections or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests.  Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records.  Assist doctors with charting  Chart auditing, CPT and ICD-9 review  Venipunctures, EKG's, Vital Signs, Blood draws, and Injections  Prep patients for examination and treatment, and assist during minor office procedures  Prepare exam and treatment rooms (instrument preparation and sterilization, prescription refills, faxing, and filing) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications  Medical Assistant experience  CPT I certification  Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs and IM injections.  Ability to work well under pressure and be quick on your feet  Neat and professional appearance  Effective written and verbal communication skills  Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant Working Conditions Center-Based. Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs.
