Milieu Manager - Arctic Recovery

Responsibilities JOB DESCRIPTION: The Milieu Manager provides leadership on the units; supervising and assigning daily tasks to MHS staff. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and supports the facility’s treatment program and philosophy. JOB RESPONSIBLITIES: Provides milieu support for staff and residents as needed and is a first response coordinator in times of crisis to assist with therapeutic intervention. Facilitates HWC and NOHOLD trainings, as well as monitors CPR, First Aid, and HWC due dates and ensures classes are conducted to meet deadlines. Conducts parent/guardian and/or family contact documentation and ensures completion of MHS staff’s parent/guardian and/or family contact and documentation. Conducts incident report and SR paperwork reviews, reviews camera footage of SR and HWC interventions, and completes staff debriefing of SRs. Tracks and keeps Q15 records. Collects and interprets data from Q15 reviews, identifies areas in need of development and provides monthly reports and plans of action to senior leadership. Facilitates training for staff related to group facilitation and documentation of groups as needed or requested by Directors/Managers. Coordinates with Directors and Managers on Program Scheduling. Recommends to the treatment team effective alternatives or modification to treatment plans based on the patient progress and response to treatment plan. Ensures therapeutic recreation, expressive therapy groups, FIT groups and clinical programming is being facilitated. Remains flexible in providing a variety of appropriate therapeutic interventions depending on patient needs and abilities. Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for clients. Coordinates with the Clinical Manager on daily programming schedules. Develops and implements Performance Improvement Plans as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Performance Management & Supervision: Fosters staff development and growth of team. Provides regular coaching and feedback to employees to motivate performance. Completes performance evaluations providing thorough feedback and goals to assigned staff by established deadlines. Coordinates and provides day-to-day oversight to staff; actively involved in resolving employee matters/issues. Maintains open communication through regular rounding and one to one meetings with employees and holds regular departmental staff meetings. Ensures staff comply with assigned education requirement in a timely manner (i.e., CIA Training, HIPAA training, competencies, etc.). Responsible for holding staff accountable with upholding facility policies/procedures and managing the corrective action process when needed. Recruitment & Retention Responsible for hiring, onboarding, and promotions for all staff within the team. Maintains accurate job descriptions/evaluative tools for assigned staff. Completes new-hire touch points in accordance with the facility’s Onboarding Plan. Actively participates and champions the facility’s Service Excellence and Recognition Programs. Develops team building initiatives to engage staff and build a positive team dynamic. Qualifications EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field or a minimum of 4 years' experience in the mental health field, or a combination of training and experience. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision; Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions; Ability to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles; Capability of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis; Effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal. Must have a working knowledge of computers. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITON: Must be a Handle with Care Instructor. Must be willing and able to execute the patient de-escalation methods, both verbal and physical. Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as State of Alaska Background Check and Drug Testing. Must be able to demonstrate special training, knowledge and skills specific to age groups, as well as job and/or program specific competency within the first three (3) months of training. Must be certified in CPR and Handle with Care within the first month of training and annually thereafter. Must complete all mandatory in-services annually. Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire; PPD skin test required annually or chest x-ray annually thereafter. Must be at least 21 years of age if assigned to work at a Residential Treatment Center.

The Prep & Recovery Unit RN cares for patients who will be receiving anesthetic care and who are recovering from anesthesia after surgery. They monitor pre and post-operation vital signs, assess levels of consciousness, and carefully observe patients for any side effects from anesthesia. Roles and Responsibilities: Performs and documents an accurate assessment on each assigned patient within established standard of care. Identifies a patient's immediate needs on admission and establishes daily goals. Assessment of any allergies and/or infection control techniques. Knows what procedures will be and has been performed. Able to recognize priorities within patient care and act accordingly especially with pain management and documentation. Completes Phase I and/or II record at end of each case. Demonstrates accuracy in data collection with utilization of Ambulatory Surgery record and patient chart for: H&P and Lab Values Confirms surgical outcome with anesthesia and any event with anesthesiologist post op. Documents flow sheets, graphic sheets, and anesthesia signature are completed by end of recovery phase and reflects patients progress toward established goals. Ability to appropriately problem solve incidents on the unit. Communicates incident information and action taken to the appropriate people. 4 - 10 or 3 -13 hour variable shifts. Unit operating our hours 5a-10p. Shifts will flex between pre-op and post-op and will be based on surgical schedule. Call component is included in this role. One weekend 24 hour call shift in a 6 week rotation. Weekday call begins at 9p-7am. Some holiday call. Position Responsibilities · Assesses potential for compromised skin integrity, nutritional deficiencies, functional deficiencies, pain management history and changes in elimination patterns within the patient making environmental changes or referrals as necessary. · Modifies the interview techniques to adequately assess patients by identifying the physical, psychosocial and educational needs common to the age group. · Completes physical assessment including discharge planning and care plan within departmental guidelines/times frames. Consistently and actively participates with interdisciplinary team. · Prepares the pre-op holding area/PACU appropriately to receive a new admission/transfer, greeting the patient and family upon arrival and placing the appropriate monitoring equipment, applicable to specialty area and/or patient condition. · Evaluates, assesses and documents patient’s hemodynamic response to therapeutic intervention by accurate cardiovascular monitoring. · Evaluates, assesses and documents patient’s cardio-respiratory status including O2 saturation, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. Reports abnormal rhythm to physicians. · Competent in section, care of and discontinuation of catheters, tubes and/or drains (or assisting with the insertion). · Administers medication per physicians’ orders with zero errors, respecting patients’ rights and performing assessment, reassessment, assessing effectiveness and documentation according to hospital policy. · Responds to code blue in department, and initiates CPR. Demonstrates calm, professional manners during a crisis or emergency situation at all times within the patient care environment. · Initiates and maintains intravenous therapy as per hospital policy and infection control guidelines. Safety administers blood and blood products. · Adheres to and complies with all regulatory standards globally to profession and specific to unit, consistent with their scope of practice. · Conducts and documents initial vital signs and admission history, initiates an individualized plan of care, and prioritizes interventions based on patient needs. Ensures the physician is notified within 15 minutes of the patient’s arrival to the procedure area. · Verbalizes understanding of patient diagnosis and plan of care. · Performs 24-hour chart check at the beginning of each procedure. · Performs preoperative and post operative care and instruction for each assigned surgical patient during shift. · Performs ostomy care to include irrigation, appliance usage and reinforcement of teaching. · Plans, presents and documents unit in-service as required. · Aggregates and analyzes PI and RISK initiatives. · Assists Director with scheduling and assures accuracy of daily schedule sheets. · Ensures problem resolution for any issues. · Conducts staff meetings in collaboration with unit director. · Fosters teamwork and builds mutual understanding, respect and confidence among personnel and between departments. · Is responsible for providing leadership and direction for staffing in accordance with the organization goals and objectives and meets changing needs in the area(s) of responsibility. · Collects and interprets data to monitor the department’s performance and improve processes; and when applicable evaluates the outcomes related to the use of clinical practices guidelines. · All other duties assigned.
