Refills medication following the ARC refill protocols. Accurately and completely rooms patients, takes and documents vital signs, prepares patients for provider exam Follows clinic protocols and directions given by nursing team leader or supervisor. Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to EKGs, audiograms, tympanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings with reporting and documentation as appropriate. Monitors inventory of medical and/or office supplies and equipment, ensuring units and/or rooms are properly stocked and supplies are current and not expired. Orders supplies as needed. Responsible for reviewing both Provider refill in basket and assisting with daily medication refill request using the ARC refill protocol. Responsible for reviewing EPIC triage call in basket for any callbacks. Cleans patient rooms as needed, including proper handling of dirty laundry. Ensures laundry cart is stocked with fresh linens on a daily basis. May assist providers with sigmoidoscopy exams and cardiac stress testing by setting up equipment, assisting with patient preparation, and cleaning and storing equipment after exam. Reports and documents appropriately. Maintains equipment (autoclaves, sterilizes, washes speculums, checks expiration dates, etc.) Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct. Regular and dependable attendance. Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on CMSweb. Works holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy. LVN: Administers medications and injections. Provides direct nursing care to patients and distributes medications and treatments under physician order according to accepted standards of care. Teaches and counsels patients and families concerning heath assessment and care including prevention of disease and health maintenance. May provide vaccine management including ordering and monitoring vaccine usage/wastage, facilitating the maintenance of the vaccines, participating in educational opportunities, utilizing the Texas Vaccine for Children Provider Manual, and completing reportable documentation as recommended by Texas Department of State Health Services. May facilitate the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the immunization program. Calls patients and informs of lab results. Accurately and completely reports and documents status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, contacts with patient and/or other healthcare providers. Accurately and completely performs patient follow-up activities including laboratory results and diagnostics, appointments, referrals, medications, and call backs. Participates in the orientation of new employees. Staff Medical Assistant: Provides patients with educational materials as directed. Administers medication under physician’s direction and within the scope of practice as demonstrated by completion of training and testing. Responsible for reviewing result note in basket and calling /informing patients of normal lab results. Reviews provider instructions regarding abnormal results. QUALIFICATIONS: LVN: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing. Experience: Previous experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting preferred. Required Certificate/License: Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the State of Texas and current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card required. Our general medicine unit is a 24 bed unit with a 6:1 nurse to patient ratio. Join our new general medicine unit and be part of a team that's changing lives every day. You will work with a broad range of disease processes, including but not limited to: heart failure, renal failure, respiratory failure, diabetes-related complications, infectious diseases such as cellulitis, pneumonia, UTI, sepsis, etc., gastrointestinal problems, wounds, malnutrition, as well as alcohol and substance abuse/withdrawal. Responsibilities • Demonstrates competency in advanced practical nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit specific requisite skills. • Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and other members of the healthcare team. • Assists RN or provider during examinations and procedures. • Documents patient data, and patient education according to Baptist Health and department specific guidelines • Able to perform triage functions, including assessing the patient and determining next step in care, working in collaboration as directed by the department nursing team or provider(s). • Appropriately administer oral and injectable medications or immunizations per LPN scope and as directed by a provider. • Maintains a safe and caring environment for both patient and family. • Assumes an active role in keeping informed about changes in hospital policy, procedure, and equipment. • Participates in nursing PI activities as assigned. • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on the assigned unit. • Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/area’s/department’s policies and procedures. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures. For Perioperative Anesthesia: • Demonstrates through clinical practice a clear understanding of aseptic technique and has a working knowledge of the specialized equipment and supplies utilized by the Anesthesiologist/CRNA/SRNA. • Demonstrates knowledge of standards and recommended practices for the perioperative setting. Shares own knowledge with colleagues. • Provides anesthesia equipment and supplies based on identified needs in a timely, efficient, and safe manner. • Assists anesthesia personnel with the administration of general, spinal, and regional anesthesia. • Sets up all invasive monitoring lines as requested by anesthesia personnel. Under the direction of the Anesthesiologist/CRNA/SRNA, runs point of care labs and diagnostics, completing all required Point Of Care (P.O.C.) documentation. • Works closely with anesthesia staff during anesthesia emergencies and trauma cases; assisting with preparation of the O.R. suite, line placement, handling of blood and lab draws and patient positioning for procedure. • Troubleshoots and cares for all equipment used in the delivery of anesthesia care. • Receives, sorts, decontaminates, and cleans reusable anesthesia equipment. • Maintains and insures adequate inventory levels of anesthesia supplies in departmental service areas. • Assists with positioning the patient according to operating room policy and procedure, and transport post-operatively to the PACU or unit in a safe and caring manner for the patient. • Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient condition to the Anesthesiologist/CRNA/SRNA and other members of healthcare team. • Contributes to the department’s effectiveness by reporting to duty on time, adhering to policy concerning break and lunch, and completing assigned duties in a efficient, effective, and timely manner. • The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. • Practices efficient use of supplies. • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized unit.
