Responsibilities* The Surgical Short Stay Unit is a 13 bay unit specializing in the care of short stay surgical, procedural, and medicine patients. Care is provided for a wide range of surgical and medical patients that require brief, but intensive monitoring and teaching. Nursing care is individualized to each patient and/or family in order to address and meet their personal needs. Shall possess a current, active, full and unrestricted Registered Nurses (RN) licensed in Colorado or be able to practice using a nurse compact state or Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) license. License must be unencumbered and remain in effect during contract employment. Must be familiar with various types of medical surgical equipment and current standards of care. Must obtain and maintain the site's required health screening and immunization requirements. Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks. Reports must be submitted immediately when the reporting person has reasonable cause to believe that abandonment, abuse, financial exploitation, or neglect of a vulnerable adult has occurred. 6. Teaches the patient and family/caregiver self-care techniques as appropriate. Provides medication, diet and other instructions as ordered by the physician and recognizes and utilizes opportunities for health counseling with patients and families/caregivers.
