Job Summary and Responsibilities PACU Unit Description: At Longmont United Hospital, the Preop, PACU, GI, and Infusion departments are co-located, fostering a highly collaborative and team-oriented culture. Staff members often take on multiple responsibilities while specializing in one area, offering opportunities for diverse experience. Our Endoscopy unit features two suites, performing an average of 170 procedures monthly running five days a week. Outpatient Infusion services manage 5-15 patients daily. We have six operating rooms, handling approximately 175 surgeries per month, including general, orthopedic, opthalmologic, urologic, ENT, and plastic surgeries, with robotic assistance. Our mission is to deliver exceptional surgical care with respect and compassion. Schedule: Variable 8, 10, 12 hr shifts, call required every 3-4th weekend and 1 night per week We offer a 15% PRN differential for all hours worked. You must live within 30 minutes or less of the facility for On-Call requirements. This is required and cannot be changed in any capacity. As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will assume responsibility and accountability for: Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. Promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Nursing Technician PPOP PACU works under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), preforming a variety of tasks delegated by the RN in order to care for patients. The Nursing Technician completes assigned tasks and reports information about patients to the RN. The Nursing Technician assists with obtaining vitals, and other taught skills as trained by OrthoIndy. Essential Duties: Obtains and reports vital signs and fluid intake and output. Discontinues IV lines and urinary catheters as directed by the Registered Nurse and documents removal. Observes and reports patient conditions and behaviors to the Registered Nurse. Assists in the cleaning of equipment, furniture, and surfaces using appropriate aseptic technique and returns equipment to appropriate areas as needed. Restocks linens and supplies on the unit. Orders linen, café items for patient care. Performs phlebotomy as directed by the Registered Nurse. Performs Urine Pregnancy Tests, and blood sugars for patients as directed by Registered Nurses. Provides skin care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Reinforces patients and family education as directed by the Registered Nurse. Performs EKGs and bladder scans when directed by the Registered Nurse. Transports patients to other units, upon dismissal, and as necessary. Performs Cast Cutting, Ted Hose measurement and application.
