The RN Extern Earn to Learn supports patient care under supervision, assists clinical staff, observes and reports patient status, and provides support as part of the Earn to Learn program. The RN Extern Earn to Learn Supports nursing staff in delivering safe, compassionate patient care as part of the Earn to Learn program. Observes, documents, and communicates patient needs, concerns, and status changes to the healthcare team. Provides emotional support, education, and guidance to patients and families under supervision. Assists with basic patient care including activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulation, positioning, and skin care. Obtains and records vital signs, weights, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and pain assessments. Collects and processes specimens and reports abnormalities to the licensed nurse. Performs delegated clinical tasks including blood glucose monitoring, EKGs (as applicable), oral suctioning, and incentive spirometry. Assists with patient transport, admissions, discharges, and preparation for diagnostic procedures. Supports patient safety through rounding and monitoring needs such as pain, positioning, and personal items. Maintains a clean and safe patient care environment and ensures proper equipment function. Responds to patient call lights and communicates patient and family needs to appropriate staff. Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and team communication as appropriate. Supports early mobility, fall prevention, and other patient safety initiatives. Assists in emergency situations under the direction of the RN. Participates in orientation, training, and competency development activities. Provides feedback to peers and supports a collaborative team environment. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care. What We Require: Education: High school diploma or equivalent education required. Experience: None.
