Duties Description Independently performs the duties below: Conducts nursing assessments; and obtains, records, and updates individuals’ health information and vital signs, using standard instruments and procedures. Maintains and updates charts, records, and other documentation, consistent with agency, State, and federal requirements; and may collect data and perform related activities to support medical research. Monitors inventories and ensures that standards for medications, solutions, supplies, and equipment are maintained to meet nursing care needs. Provides clinical supervision and instruction to Graduate Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and direct care staff in completing nursing care tasks. Delegates responsibility for appropriate nursing activities, skills, and/or procedures to nursing and direct care staff; and makes clinical rounds to assess individuals’ nursing care needs and observe and evaluate the provision of nursing services. Acts as liaison to outside agencies and providers to ensure continuity of care and the necessary follow-up for individuals; advocates for individuals’ needs; and may provide instruction to providers on individuals’ discharge plans. May perform the full range of supervisory duties over Graduate Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and direct care staff; provide information to Registered Nurse Supervisors; and prepare or contribute to the preparation of reports and performance evaluations for lower-level staff involved in nursing care activities. Develops and maintains sound relationships with the community, labor and professional groups in developing nursing programs and policies. May serve as a consultant for the System for the overall nursing practice, service and education programs; conducts related studies and directs projects, provides leadership in Central Office in the development, coordination and evaluation of System’s central and health care setting nursing services, practice and education programs. Attends community conferences and committee meetings with administrative, Medical Board and department heads. Conducts and chairs staff meetings and working committees with all levels of nursing personnel. Minimum Qualifications A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse; and Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing Administration or a related field and four (4) years of high-level responsible experience in nursing administration, three (3) years of which must have been in a hospital; or A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Department Preferences Demonstrated experience leading large-scale technology implementations and cross-functional initiatives. Strong knowledge of healthcare systems, regulatory standards, data governance, and clinical workflows.
