The Registered Nurse will aid with the delivery of patient care during the respective clinic hours of operation, floating between our Central and South clinic locations based on clinic needs. This role will report to the Clinic Administrator and clinical oversight provided by the Associate Director of Clinical Nursing Services. To support operational and patient care needs, nurses may be cross-trained and periodically asked to provide coverage at other Austin-area Kind Clinic locations. Core Functions: Assist with the evaluation and care of patients seen at Kind Clinic, including, but not limited to: preparing patients for examination, taking vital signs, verifying patient information by interviewing patient and recording medical history. Provide direct nursing care to patients, including the provision of lab services, and the distribution of medications and treatments according to accepted standards of care. Conduct patient follow-up visits and physical examinations according to accepted standards of care and within the definitions of the Texas Nursing Practice Act. Teach and counsel patients concerning health assessment and care including prevention of disease, disability, hygiene, and health maintenance in a safe, affirming, and culturally appropriate manner. Provide clinical training to new Medical Assistant staff and relevant feedback to the Clinic Administrator regarding training progress. Adequately reviews and prepares charts prior to daily visits. Serve as a mentor to clinic support staff. Act as a liaison and collaborate with Patient Support Center RN team as needed. Follow organization’s clinical SDOs, policies and procedures when interpreting lab results, sending medication refills or scheduling treatments. Follow Texas DSHS notifiable condition verbal reporting requirements related to in-clinic diagnoses of presumptive primary syphilis and acute HIV. Prioritize work tasks and services and completes tasks in a timely manner. Maintain accurate, clear and concise progress notes, problem lists, and medication lists. Communicate appropriately and tactfully with staff, patients, partners, and community. Actively engage in a quality improvement culture within department/organization and participate in identified quality improvement activities. Participate in staff, planning, in-service, and other meetings as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Compensation Based on the position’s duties and requirements, this role has a starting hourly rate of $37.59. The initial hourly rate will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience. We’re also offering a $2,500 signing bonus for this role as a welcome to our team. Payment of the bonus is contingent upon successful completion of new hire training, completion of a 90-day probationary period, and the employee remaining actively employed and in good standing through the payout date. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsible for all activities associated with the delivery of quality nursing practices and duties assigned to this role. Prepares the patient care area adequately, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available. Performs and documents head to toe assessment of patient upon arrival to PACU. Assesses and maintains integrity of dressings and/or operative site. Reports abnormalities to the surgeon. Demonstrates proper airway management techniques. Monitors patients according to policy (vitals, airway, LOC, temperature, cardiac etc.). Exhibits proper technique for IV catheter insertion, maintenance and removal. Ensures patient meets discharge criteria. Provides clear and concise discharge instructions. Provides a safe and comforting environment for patients and family. Assesses patient and family needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients. Evaluates patient’s response and intervenes appropriately for optimal outcome. Clearly communicates instructions to patient and family and appropriately answer questions. Appropriately adapts during rapidly changing pace and manages resources as needed to maintain patient flow. Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with each patient, family, and significant other in order to address all identified needs. Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement the medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient’s responses are reassessed in order meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered. Maintains up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, in order to ensure quality care. Directs other licensed and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care to patients as assigned. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, center/service safety, and specific job-related hazards. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the center, as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct. Regular and dependable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Cross-trains to pre-op and PACU and work in those areas when requested. Performs selected duties as delegated by the DON or others in authority. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Required: High school diploma or GED. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Two (2) or more years RN experience. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree. ASC or critical care experience. Certificate/License Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas required. Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card and current AHA approved Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card required. Current AHA approved Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card preferred. Responsibilities Hays Surgery Center is a multi-specialty ambulatory Surgery Center located in Kyle, Texas that performs outpatient surgical cases in podiatry, ophthalmology, ENT, general surgery, GI, urology, and more. Experience in these specialities, as well as experience with adult and pediatric patients, is preferred. We are actively hiring for an Registered Nurse (RN) PreOp PACU. Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures to include the patient’s cardiovascular system, respiratory system and airway management needs, neurological system, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort needs, and mental status. Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors. Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes. Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions. Apply the relevant scoring system/discharge criteria for patient transfer ( e.g. , Aldrete Score, Modified Aldrete Score [ i.e. , PARSAP], Post Anesthesia Discharge Scoring System [PADSS], White) score accurately as defined by organizational policy. Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care. Implement the plan of care including the following interventions: Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – general. Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – monitored anesthesia care. Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – regional. Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification. Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification. Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.
