Location: WISH: 2nd FLRBLK 100 Full Time **Oncology Experience Preferred** PRIMARY PURPOSE The RN is a licensed professional who uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery, that focuses on a particular patient population(s)/specific health conditions, by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee. MINIMUM SPECIFICATION Education Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Experience Must have two years of nursing experience. Equivalent Education and/or Experience: None Certification/Registration/Licensure Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or valid Compact RN license. Here’s What You Need Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program or Nursing Diploma required BSN preferred One-year experience as a registered nurse, or completion of an RN residency program. Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire BCLS (AHA) prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly ACLS within 90 days of hire required CPI training within 90 days of hire 2+ years Med/Surg RN experience in an acute care setting preferred. Prefer strong med/surg experience including charge/preceptor skills What You Will Do Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process Assesses the patient Plans the care of the patient Intervenes as appropriate Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care. Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
