Job Duties/Responsibilities: Perform initial medical screening. Perform admissions assessments/evaluations. Assess, direct, and intervene in crisis situations. Administer medications as ordered by physician. Perform nurse to nurse screening by phone on patients being transferred from other facilities. Obtain/document pre-certification on admissions as necessary. Handle in-take calls, set appointments and complete follow-up as necessary. Facilitate referrals to outpatient treatment services as necessary. Communicate patient needs to unit nurses, physicians, and families. Report unsafe conditions. Provides age-specific communication, limit setting and interventions. Provides health education to patients and their families. Interact with patients and staff in professional manner, promotes teamwork and demonstrates Service Excellence Attend mandatory staff meetings. Perform other duties as assigned. Responsibilities The Perioperative RN is responsible for managing the care of the pediatric and adult patient requiring a surgical procedure. The Perioperative RN is a professional nurse who is directly or indirectly responsible for delivering total nursing care to the perioperative patient during various phases of the perioperative stay. The Perioperative RN participates in the clinical assessment, planning for care, implantation of appropriate nursing techniques and evaluation of nursing interventions. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited Nursing program. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum of 1 year previous Perioperative RN experience preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association. ACLS within 6 months of employment. Responsibilities The Registered Nurse is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients on an assigned unit. The staff nurse provides direction to licensed vocational nurses and non-professional nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The staff nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited nursing program. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Clinical nursing experience OR equivalent EMT/Paramedic experience required. Experience in critical care preferred. REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association. Advance Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advance Life Support (or ENPC) required within 6 months of employment. TNCC within 18 months of employment. Employees must remain current in these certifications.
