Job Summary • Ellison 8 is a cardiac surgical step down unit • Seeking an experienced RN for this 36 bed adult population unit, caring for patients with all aspects of heart disease appropriate for surgical intervention. • Common diagnosis includes coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, aortic disease and congenital heart disease. Patients on Ellison 8 are after heart surgery, including: coronary artery bypass graft, valve replacement, Heart Transplant and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) placement. Patient teaching is strongly emphasized with respect to cardiac risk factor modification. • Current Massachusetts RN required • BSN strongly preferred • Must have at least one year of cardiac surgery nursing experience Summary Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.
