Position Summary Delivers professional and technical nursing care to pediatric (>2 years), adolescent, adult and geriatric patients undergoing surgical procedures in collaboration with care directed by the medical staff. Nursing care delivered complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation when delivering surgical nursing care. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards. Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the patient. Prepares equipment and assists physician during surgical procedures. Takes emergency call as assigned by the department head. Works assigned shifts but may be asked to work beyond the regular tour of duty as assigned by the department head or nursing supervisor. OVERVIEW: Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, supervises the nursing personnel and the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during an assigned tour of duty. Such supervision must be in accordance with accepted professional standards and current federal, state and local regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality care is always maintained.
