Duties Description New York Psychiatric Institute has immediate job opportunities for Registered Nurses (RN), previous psychiatric experience is not required. The selected candidate will serve as a member of the Children’s Day Unit at New York State Psychiatric Institute, a day program providing services to adolescents ages 13 to 18 years who require intensive outpatient care. Prior clinical experience as a psychiatric nurse working with children and adolescents is preferred. As Registered Nurse 1 Psychiatric, you are a vital member of a multi-disciplinary team focused on providing compassionate care through patient-centered and recovery-focused mental health services to individuals with serious mental illness. Duties will include but are not limited to: managing patient and research subject admissions; conducting diagnostic interviews and therapeutic interventions with patients, research subjects, and families; administering emergency interventions including patient de-escalation and monitoring; administering medications in collaboration with the medical team; supervising staff; and providing quality nursing care as a member of the multidisciplinary unit team.
