Job Requirements The Clinical Nurse, UMMS Staffing (USC) provides safe, evidence-based, patient- and family-centered nursing care across UMMS inpatient and approved procedural, surgical, and ambulatory care settings. Safely administers medications and utilizes clinical equipment and technology in accordance with policy and validated competency. Delegates and supervises nursing care activities consistent with the Nurse Practice Act, organizational policy, and individual competency levels. Demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, and effective communication when transitioning between units and clinical settings. Adheres to evidence-based practice, regulatory standards, and organizational policies to promote patient safety and quality outcomes. Identifies, reports, and takes appropriate action related to patient safety risks, adverse events, and near misses. Supports unit operations and staffing needs, including performing charge or other unit-based roles as appropriate and within validated competencies. Participates in quality improvement, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives as applicable. Maintains current RN licensure, required certifications, and validated competencies necessary for assigned clinical settings. Completes all required organizational, regulatory, and annual education. Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical competence. Perform all other related duties as assigned. IMC RN Position Summary The IMC RN is responsible for managing high acuity patients who are often too critical for a medical/surgical floor but may not require an ICU level of care. The IMC team is skilled in caring for populations such as sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, post open-heart procedures, continuous cardiac infusions, and those requiring acute continuous non-invasive ventilation (i.e. BiPAP/CPAP). These patients require continuous cardiac and respiratory monitoring and the IMC RN will be prepared to intervene quickly to any changes in hemodynamics or respiratory demands. The IMC RN is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating an individualized plan of care for their patients while serving as an advocate and educator to patients and their families. The Intermediate Care unit (IMC) is a fast-paced, teamwork driven environment providing high acuity care to critically ill patients. IMC RN Position Requirements Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse. Must hold a license in the state of permanent residency. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) & Advanced Life Support (ACLS) NIH Stroke Scale Certification IMC RN Work Schedule May be assigned to day, evening, or night shifts or a combination per departmental policy. Required to work rotating weekends per unit need. Expected to work overtime on occasion. Oncology RN Position Summary Oncology patients often experience hospital readmissions during their journey. This position provides the unique opportunity to connect with patients and their loved ones while impacting their outcomes.The Oncology RN provides oncology and hematology care for inpatients, and they also provide transfusion services for outpatients. This position provides the opportunity to learn and administer oral and IV chemotherapy and immotherapy medications. The oncology RN also provides supportive, palliative, and hospice care to a vulnerable population of patients. The Oncology RN acts as a patient advocate providing support, information and direct care and utilizes equipment and technology skillfully and is technically competent in nursing procedures. The Registered Nurse educates patients and families on significant self-care issues. Registered Nurses are responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care utilizing ANA Standards and the Nursing Process. The inventory, distribution/delivery of medications may be required. Oncology RN Position Requirements Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse. Must hold a license in the state of permanent residency. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland or Delaware. Chemotherapy Biotherapy administration certification preferred, but if not, must be obtained within 12 months of hire with renewal every 2 years. Oncology RN Work Schedule May be assigned to day, evening, or night shifts or a combination per departmental policy. Scheduled off at least three holidays per year. Required to work weekends per unit need. Expected to work overtime on occasion.
