Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Cardiac Nurse, you’ll care for patients who may have life-threatening cardiac events or conditions while helping their families navigate daily care and the long-term plan for healing and maintenance outside of the hospital. Initiate advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) protocols by preparing and administering high-potency medications such as Nipride, dopamine, atropine, nitroglycerin, and dobutamine to manage life-threatening cardiac conditions. Support physicians during complex and potentially life-threatening procedures, including cardioversion and the placement of invasive lines such as arterial, central venous, and pulmonary artery catheters. Evaluate patient responses by monitoring cardiac output, vital signs, peripheral perfusion, and level of consciousness. Coordinate referrals to appropriate allied health professionals such as Chaplains, Community Health Nurses, and Social Workers based on patient and family needs Administer a combination of high-potency and potentially life-threatening medications through invasive lines as part of critical care interventions.
