Job Summary: The Transfer Center Nurse Specialist will function out of the Throughput Operations Center providing critical and timely assessments and successfully guiding referring facilities to the appropriate physician. In an effort to provide complete customer satisfaction, the nurse should accurately listen and respond appropriately to requests made by transferring physicians, hospitals and peers. The Transfer Center Nurse Specialist should give high priority to customer service and complete customer satisfaction. The nurse must be able to adjust through a rapidly changing environment. The nurse will manage multiple phones lines and responsibilities including transfer center logistics for patients being transferred into both hospitals. This role will play a significant part in ensuring adequate acceptance of patients into our health system, and compliance with EMTALA regulations. Minimum Qualifications: NYS licensed/registered RN (or eligible), Bachelors degree in Nursing with one year hospital-based experience or Associates degree in Nursing with three years of hospital-based experience required. Job Summary: The professional float nurse will perform and coordinate nursing care to patients in multiple specialized units requiring advanced knowledge and skills. The incumbent will make independent decisions regarding complex patient care problems which involve the analysis of multiple sources of data, identification of alternative health care possibilities and the selection of a course of treatment action. The professional float nurse exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State and two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience in an acute care specialty area. Ambulatory Float Nurse Manager

Job Summary: The Ambulatory Float Nurse Manager assumes primary leadership and management of defined clinical nursing areas to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. Major functions include: goals, planning, customer service/marketing, standards, certification and accreditation, administrative management, budget/cost containment, communication, and education. Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices. Nurse Manager exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures. The Float Nurse Manager will be assigned to cover for prolonged Nurse Manager vacancies or leave of absence, supporting day-to-day operational unit activities and assisting with sustaining strategic initiatives. The Float Nurse Manager will assist with orienting and supporting the new nurse manager once hired. If not providing interim coverage or during downtime, the Float Nurse Manager will assist with hardwiring ongoing nursing department strategic initiatives including but not limited to RN engagement and satisfaction. Minimum Qualifications: NYS license/registration or eligible as a Register Nurse required. Bachelors degree in Nursing or Masters degree in Nursing required. Five (5) years of post-licensure acute/ambulatory care experience, which encompasses a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a nurse manager role, required. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required. CPR-BLS successfully completed before hire. Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree preferred. Nursing Leadership certification upon appointment or obtained within three years of appointment preferred. Other specialty based certifications for nursing leadership (i.e. CCRN, CEN) are also encouraged and supported.
