Summary GENERAL SUMMARY The RN - Transport Staff Nurse plans, provides, and monitors individualized nursing care in response to specific patient needs within a defined scope of practice. Reports to departmental management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care respective to the assigned patient population. Responds to inter-facility transport requests utilizing mobile intensive care units and rotor and fixed wing aircraft. Collaborates with other transport team members to ensure the safety of all transport operations. Performs other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Must have an Associates in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing with applicable experience. BSN is preferred. Minimum of three years NICU, PICU, and/or Pediatric ED or relevant critical care experience required. Department specific RN certification preferred. CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. Strong leadership abilities and communication skills required. PALS and/or NRP required. Increased Security Clearance for job role Required: FBI finger printing, criminal background, educational and personal reference check verification and clearance required for identified job roles. WORKING CONDITIONS Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected. Overview In accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the EVMS Medical Group and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Hofheimer Hall (HH) Generalist Nurse Manager functions under the direction of the Director of Nursing and in collaboration with the Generalist Division Director, HH Generalist Practice Manager, and Department Administrator to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for the Generalist Obstetrics and Gynecology practice. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, high-quality, patient-centered care while overseeing clinical workflows, staffing, and regulatory compliance. This position provides direct leadership and supervision to the clinical team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The Nurse Manager partners with providers and administrative leadership to optimize clinical operations, support quality improvement initiatives, enhance the patient experience, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and evidence-based clinical practices. The incumbent also oversees staff recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and professional development to maintain a highly engaged and effective clinical team. Oversees daily clinical operations, ensuring efficient workflows, appropriate staffing, and delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Develops, implements, and evaluates clinical workflows, processes, and protocols to improve operational efficiency, patient access, and the overall patient experience. Ensures smooth clinic flow across all clinical areas and proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement. Partners with providers and administrative leadership to support departmental goals, quality initiatives, and organizational priorities. Clinical Staff Management, Leadership & Development (35%) Provides direct supervision and leadership for HH Generalist clinical staff, including RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants. Manages clinical staff scheduling, assignments, and resource allocation to maintain appropriate staffing levels and support operational needs. Leads recruitment, onboarding, orientation, training, competency validation, ongoing education, coaching, and professional development of clinical team members. Conducts performance evaluations and addresses performance concerns in collaboration with the HH Generalist Practice Manager, Division Director and Human Resources. Promotes a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and exceptional customer service. Quality, Patient Safety & Regulatory Compliance (15%) Supports EVMS Medical Group quality standards and patient safety initiatives related to clinical operations and direct patient care. Supports emergency response processes and assists providers with patient care needs as appropriate. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications and Skills Licensed Virginia Register Nurse (RN) (or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with equivalent education and/or experience) is required. Three (3) years of supervisor/charge nurse experience is required.
