Responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process, and adhering to the standards of nursing practice. I. Major Responsibilities: 1. Utilizes the nursing process for the delivery and management of patient’s care from admission to discharge, appropriate to the developmental age and cultural diversity of the patient population. 2. Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to nursing standards. 3. Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning and teaching. 4. Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluates nursing care within assigned clinical setting. 5. Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level. II. Position Qualifications: License/Certification/Education: Required: 1. Currently registered by the Board of Registration in Nursing for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 2. BLS is a requirement for every RN unless an advance certification is current (ex ACLS, PALS, NRP). In addition, unit specific certification and competencies are defined in the Unit Profile. Preferred: 1. BSN. 2. GI certification. Experience/Skills: Required: 1. Strong interpersonal skills are required to gather information, build relationships that support collaborative work in the department and across the organization while providing exceptional service to patients.
