RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1 Verifies daily staffing and redistribution, as necessary; 2 Collaborates with all charge nurses daily, to exchange information regarding resident care, resident condition and all matters affecting resident well-being (i.e. admissions, discharges, transfers, out of or within the building), makes recommendations regarding nursing process, and communicates concerns to supervisors of other departments; 3 Makes rounds, morning and night, as time allows, to assess residents condition, giving special attention to critically ill residents; 4 Ensures that the individual nursing care plan is followed for each resident; 5 Performs medication passes and/or direct resident care as needed; 6 Participates in resident care committee meetings; 7 Reinforces the training and orientation of nursing personnel and provides positive reinforcement; 8 Answers any/all emergencies throughout the shift (i.e., change of resident condition or pronouncement of death); 9 Assists in assuring a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees, and visitors; 10 Assures that the building is secure during the evening and night hours by checking doors and alarms according to nursing facility protocols; 11 Reviews incident and investigative reports for accuracy and completeness; 12 Monitors meal service on the units and in the dining areas to identify issues requiring intervention and to assure resident meal satisfaction and nutritional adequacy; 13 Assists in development and implementation of nursing facility Quality Improvement Program; 14 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights; 15 Performs other duties as requested. SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/ VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 1 The Nursing Supervisor must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and there must be current registration with the professional board of nurse examiners of the state. 2 Experience in the nursing field. 3 Supervisory experience in long term care is required.
