Additional Information About the Role 5900 is a unique 30 bed unit that provides care to female patients hospitalized for female related issues, with the primary focus on GYN Oncology. This includes chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, symptom management, pain management, palliative care, and hospice care. The care is moderate to high acuity and includes high complexity interventions. Care is coordinated by a multidisciplinary team including oncology trained nurses, advanced practice nurses, case managers, social workers, spiritual care, pharmacy, psycho-social support and our physician team. The goal of this 7-bed unit is to provide rapid, appropriate treatment that is focused on the well-being of both mother and fetus. This unit is located within Hillcrest Hospital’s Labor and Delivery Unit. When an expected mother arrives in the primary ED, they are triaged and directed to the correct path of care. Many will be taken directly to a dedicated OB area. By doing this the wait times will be shorter, and the staff is specially trained in obstetrics and women can be seen by a staff OB/Gyn practitioner.
