The primary purpose of the subspecialized oncology clinical research nurse role is to facilitate positive outcomes of safety and quality for patients enrolled on adult oncology clinical trials at the NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center by coordinating and managing patients enrolled on clinical trials by employing the nursing process, clinical skills, critical thinking, evidence-based nursing and an understanding the scientific research. The oncology clinical research nurse I is expected to develop and maintain competencies in clinical research nursing in the first year of the position including but not limited to comprehension and compliance with all NYU PCC Clinical Trials Office policies and procedures, NYU OSR and IRB policies and procedures, familiarity and application of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and Federal Regulations that govern the conduct of human subjects research. Ensures treatment plan is correctly built into Beacon Build Template and communicates promptly with the Investigational Pharmacy team to ensure timely completion. 19. Oversees the clinical coordination of patient schedules ensuring overall adherence to protocol defined criteria. 20. Provides guidance, training and education to Associate CRCs, CRCs, and Sr. CRCs. 21. Ensure Serious Adverse Events and other reportable information is reported as per regulatory requirements and protocol, institutional and regulatory timeframes. Completes documentation related to Serious Adverse Events in required timeframe, for internal and external review. Provides follow up information, when clinically available, to Serious Adverse Event or Medical Event/Reportable New Information submissions. 22. The RN provides culturally sensitive, evidence-based nursing care in accordance with ANA standards, the NJ Practice Act, Joint Commission requirements, and CentraState policies and procedures. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN delivers patient-centered care and evaluates its effectiveness through nurse-sensitive indicators and patient outcomes. Job Description The Outpatient Oncology Clinical Nurse II serves in a leadership role and delivers direct patient care to an adult Oncology outpatient population. This role will be focused on, but not limited to, Head & Neck Oncology patients. This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. At this operational level, the nurse proactively embraces the Oncology Nursing Society/Standards of Oncology Nursing practice to utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Minimum three (3) years of total RN experience.
