Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse position is to be accountable for the care activities, safety and goal achievements of assigned patients through assessing, diagnosing, planning and intervening in actual or potential health problems and evaluating patient’s response to the care. These responsibilities also include patient education and discharge planning. The Registered Professional Nurse places emphasis on mobilizing patients and preventing skin breakdown, falls and implements the appropriate measures to achieve this. The Registered Professional Nurse is a member of a designated care team and collaborates, coordinates and guides team members in planning patient care in a safe environment and achieving patient care goals according to the patient/family developmental stage and cultural expectations. The competent practice of the Professional Registered Nurse is evidenced by patient/family goal achievement, patient/family satisfaction, are and services demonstrated and thoroughly documented in accordance with American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Organization Standards Sentinel Event Alert Recommendation, Patient/Family Centered Principles, Department of Health Standards and University Hospital Policies and Procedures. Qualifications Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. PALS and BLS required. Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in basic life support (BLS). Phlebotomy Certification or IV Certification is required. Proficiency in the English language is required. Successful completion of a Progressive Care Course or Progressive Care Certification preferred. Pediatric or Adult Medical/Surgical experience is preferred. Ability to employ problem solving techniques and critical thinking. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to organize care/activities of multiple patients.

Experience Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience Licenses/Certifications Have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse within the state of employment. The Silverton Medical Center Family Birth Center is located on the First floor of the Family Birth Center entrance. The Silverton Family Birth Center includes: - 2 triage rooms- 16 LDRP- 1 OR- 1 expanded care newborn nursery Responsibilities Responsible for patient care within an assigned department/unit and participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee as defined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse. The RN Staff Nurse assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for Legacy Health System including those for patient assessment and transfer. Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO. Experience: One-year registered nursing experience or completion of either the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program that is equivalent in content, curriculum and duration. Additional clinical experience requirements may vary dependent upon the specific department in which the position is utilized.
