What you will do Demonstrates clinical expertise with regards to age specific populations, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults Practice appropriate telephone assessment skills, balancing quality work with efficient use of time and resources. Perform appropriate telephone assessment with patient, family, and/or guardian prior to admission, communicating information obtained to appropriate team members. Alert anesthesia team and/or surgeon of lab results, physical assessment, or special needs of the patient with medical problems prior to date of surgery. Communicate pre-operative instructions, arrival time, NPO instructions, and other pertinent information to patients, families, and/or guardians Respond to telephone inquiries regarding expressed needs of the caller in a timely and helpful manner Thoroughly documents all call encounters in an accurate, concise, and timely manner Participate in quality, process, and practice improvement activities as requested Performs other job functions as assigned or requested. DEGREE OF TRAVEL: • Travel required for patient visits. • Occasional travel for educational purposes. Qualifications: • Must have Associates Degree, Bachelor Degree preferred. • Must have one year of acute or hospice pediatric experience • At least 12 months experience with 1-2 years preferred in acute care. • Current CA RN license. • Current CA driver’s license with proof of insurance. • Current CPR/BLS • Prefer certification as hospice nurse. • Pediatric experience preferred. • Proof of recent TB test result • Bilingual preferred. • Computer skills (word processing), use of adding machine, calculator, fax, photocopier.
