The SMICU plays a crucial role in the recovery and stabilization of critically ill patients recovering from general, thoracic, vascular, orthopedic, plastic and oncological surgeries. SMICU also specializes in the stabilization and treatment of complex medical patients recovering from DKA, post-cardiac arrest, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Job Summary and Responsibilities The Neuro Trauma Intensive Care Unit department at St. Anthony Hospital, one of our achieved Magnet® hospitals, has 36 beds, 24 in the NTICU and 12 in the NVICU with one employee group for both units. The primary focus in NTICU is trauma and neuro trauma. Our typical patient diagnoses are MVA/MCA, TBI, penetrating trauma, assaults, SDH, SAH, IVH, SCI and orthopedic fractures. In the NVICU, we primarily see stroke patients, post IR patients, craniectomy for tumor resection/debulking, SAH/IVH (non-trauma) and status epilepticus.
