Summary: The Clinical Informaticist RN plays a critical role in leveraging technology to enhance patient care and operational efficiency within the healthcare system by optimizing clinical systems, analyzing data, and providing decision support to contribute to the ongoing improvement of clinical outcomes and the overall patient experience. The Clinical Informaticist collaborates with various stakeholders to support the effective and efficient use of healthcare information systems and technologies. The Clinical Informaticist will work closely with the Manager of Clinical Informatics to optimize the use of clinical data and technology to improve patient care, streamline workflows, and enhance clinical decision-making. This role also facilitates: the coordination, communication, testing, education, initiation, and provision of application support within clinically related information technologies. Responsibilities: * •Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage and support the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of clinical information systems, including electronic health records (EHRs), computerized physician order entry (CPOE) systems, clinical decision support (CDS) tools, and other related applications. * •Ensure that clinical systems comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices, while aligning with organizational goals and strategic initiatives. * •Support and educate all EPIC end users including physician builders to improve workflows, functionality, and user experience, and at-the-elbow support. * •Conduct thorough analysis of clinical workflows and processes to identify opportunities for improvement through the effective use of technology. * •Collaborate with clinical teams to develop and implement solutions that streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and reduce errors or inefficiencies in clinical operations. * •Provide training and support to end-users to ensure proper utilization of clinical systems and adherence to optimized workflows. * •Utilize clinical data analytics tools to extract, analyze, and interpret data from various clinical systems. * •Generate meaningful reports and dashboards to support Informatics decision-making, quality improvement initiatives, and performance monitoring. * •Collaborate with stakeholders to develop data-driven insights and workflows that drive clinical and operational improvements. * •Collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to design, implement, and maintain clinical decision support tools, including order sets, alerts, and protocols. * •Stay updated on evidence-based medicine guidelines and emerging technologies to ensure that clinical decision support tools are aligned with current best practices. * •Provides clinical advice for the purpose of building clinical systems such as clinical decision support and clinical data validation. The Clinical Leader plays a pivotal role in coordinating culturally sensitive care from pre-admission through post-discharge. This includes managing resources to achieve optimal clinical and financial outcomes, supporting quality service delivery, and guiding staff in evidence-based nursing practice. The role also assists the Nurse Manager in overseeing unit operations on a 24-hour basis and serves as a clinical resource and educator to team members. Responsibilities Assists the Department Head in the continuing effort made by the department to improve the quality of patient care and services. Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the needs of the age of the patients cared for. Takes immediate and appropriate actions in the event of a medication variance occurrence. Attends and participates in the multi-disciplinary discharge planning meetings and identifies the need for further services following discharge. Provides appropriate education based upon teaching plan. Conducts unit based education programs on a routine basis in collaboration with professional development. Meets standards for documentation regarding patient education. Documents results of patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, care plan nursing interventions and evaluation and patient progress in Medical Records, Nursing Standards of Care/Practice for the specific patient type. Recognizes changes in patient condition and/or emergencies situations and takes immediate and appropriate actions. Delegates components of care to non-professional caregivers as appropriate and evalutates outcomes. Makes decisions that demonstrate knowledge of nursing practice. Utilizes sound nursing judgment in clinical and patient care management situations. Demonstrates critical thinking skills in the care of patients and in the coordination of care to assure the achievement of maximum outcome. Develops new clinical pathways, monitors patient progress on current clinical pathways, reviews variances with Patient Care Reviewers, reviews variances from Quality Management with the Director/Nurse Manager and staff and reports to Nursing Quality Council. Follows the clinical progress of all patients. Participates in the development of unit protocols as needed. Conducts unit conferences to discuss quality issues and quality improvement strategies. Quality Referrals - unit based, follows up on nursing referrals, investigates problem, develops action plan, reviews with Nurse Manager, responds to Quality Management in writing, implements action plan. Follows up on patient complaints or concerns and keeps Director/Nurse Manager informed. Provides or coordinates at a minimum, 1 formal in-service per year to address unit specific needs. Monitors appropriate usage of speciality and Zonaire beds. Consistently adheres to hospital policy regarding the insertion, maintenance and removal of foley catheters, if applicable. Able to verbalize and demonstrate proper rationale and techniques surrounding all aspects of indwelling urinary catheter care as per policy # 4668. Fulfills the requirements for competencies and completion of annual mandatories surrounding indwelling urinary catheters. Master's Degree in Nursing required or must obtain within three years from date of hire (or internal transfer) as a condition of employment. Two years of acute care Nursing experience required.
