Position Summary: Assume direct responsibility and accountability for, and authority of, the nursing care of all patients assigned. Develops an individualized plan of nursing care for each patient in which goals, in terms of measurable outcomes, are stated. Ensures that nursing care plan is consistent with the medical plan and adheres to accepted current standards of care and practice. Makes appropriate assignments to team members by utilizing patient acuity data, and maintains accountability for members under his/her direction. Ensures nursing care adheres to current hospital/departmental policies, procedures, and regulations. Demonstrates principles of infection control and collaborates with infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients, staff, and visitors. Participates in the orientation of new personnel. Assists clinical instructors in providing learning experiences for nursing students. Documents review and/or revision of each assigned patient's plan of care at least every 24 hours. For staff involved in the care of age-specific groups, knowledge of the bio-psychosocial needs of adult, geriatric and pediatric patients is essential. Special knowledge is required in growth and development needs of pediatric/geriatric patients where applicable. EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in department specialty preferred. Develops treatment plans including type, frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy in collaboration with the treatment team. Evaluates effectiveness of treatment, and modifies plan as needed. Makes appropriate psychotherapy referrals when indicated. Collaborates with all members of the mental health team. Provides clinical supervision. Directs, coordinates, and evaluates activities for non-licensed staff and student interns engaged in patient evaluation and treatment. Provides crisis intervention services to clients with a wide variety of acute mental health problems, including suicide attempts, family conflicts, alcohol misuse, drug abuse, grief reactions, and trauma resulting from violence. Provides follow-up on patients who have recently been discharged from inpatient psychiatric facility and those with poor adherence to treatment plan. Maintains all appropriate client records according to professional and departmental policies. On-call coverage is provided on a schedule coordinated with the emergency room. Takes rotation along with rest of staff. Works closely with the Navajo Tribal Division of Social Services, law enforcement and other agencies to coordinate services for mental health patients who have serious family and other social problems. Refers patients to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling when needed. Responsible for electronic health records data entry pertinent to patient service role. Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield. Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. Responsibilities: Ensure an efficient patient flow; room patients in a timely manner, complete vital signs, complete required screenings and complete medication reviews Inventory supplies and stock exam rooms Respond to patient requests for telephonic support (Lab results, faxing records to specialists, etc.) In accordance with state regulations, MAs may administer vaccinations, perform point of care tests including but not limited to: A1C, spirometry, EKGs, blood draws for lab testing, etc. Import required documents into EMR via scanning or PDF upload. Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient care and clinic operations Process orders for durable medical equipment Request medical records from external providers as required by the provider As required, conduct routine quality control checks including infection control measures, equipment, and checks for expired medication and supplies and/or assist in maintaining center lab Other duties as assigned What we’re looking for Required Qualifications: State or national certification (as required by state), or graduation from an accredited medical assistant course 1 year experience as a medical assistant CPR or BLS Certification Electronic Medical Record experience Computer skills: Ability to quickly navigate and use multiple computer programs to include, but not limited to: Gmail, MS Word or Google Docs, Excel or Google Sheets, etc. Proficiency in non-English languages as required by the center's demographics.
