Flex Emergency Services Admissions RN - 12-hour shifts

Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Focuses primarily on RN-to-RN screenings, (i.e. reviewing H&P, labs, and other clinical documentations) for all admissions and ensures patients are medically appropriate for admission. Responds to inquiry calls regarding services. Oversees the admission process including the appropriateness of the admission, completion RN to RN screenings, orders for the admissions, and any additional required paperwork. Assists in assigning unit/program based on patient needs. Knowledgeable and able to explain Hospital programs and services. Provides accurate and complete information to physicians regarding RN-to-RN screening. Communicates with physicians and providers to receive admission orders and medical clearance as needed. Assures compliance with all applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations that pertain to psychiatric admissions. Maintains data/records regarding the admission process for medical screenings. Completes medical screening evaluations and triaging on all patients who present for an assessment in accordance with EMTALA laws. Provides first aid and medical care as needed. Coordinate transfer of those patients requiring a higher level of medical care and/or medical clearance. Has a strong understanding of the department computer systems. Conducts the initial assessment which includes prior treatment history, previous medications, health screen, family dynamics and risk factors. FLEX/PRN position - no benefts. The existing CTICU APP team is now expanding in response to unprecedented growth. The Cardiothoracic Surgery Intensive Care (CTICU) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery CTICU multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, residents, fellows, and RNs providing intensive care services to patients and families. The CTICU APP role promotes independent clinical practice within a highly collaborative and established team model and is well supported with dedicated 24/7 in-house CTICU intensivist support. Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent and collaborative patient management from admission to the CTICU through transfer of care to the acute care setting. Responsibilities include the following: Work on a dedicated cardiothoracic inter-professional team with other established APPs, critical care physicians and cardiothoracic surgeons in addition to the multidisciplinary team. Job Description The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. A MSN or DNP are not required but supersede the requirement for the BSN.
